2026 NORTH HARBOUR BUSINESS HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE
Inducted into the North Harbour Business Hall of Fame at the North Harbour Club Charity Lunch on Wednesday 16 September 2026. The North Harbour Business Hall of Fame is proudly sponsored by Milford Asset Management.
When people talk about purpose-driven business in New Zealand, John Berry’s name is never far from the conversation.
A visionary entrepreneur, respected business leader and passionate advocate for ethical investing, John has spent his career proving that business success and positive impact can go hand in hand.
In 2010, alongside co-founder Paul Brownsey, John launched Pathfinder Asset Management from Takapuna, pioneering ethical and values-based investing in New Zealand long before it became mainstream. Under his leadership, Pathfinder grew to become New Zealand’s leading ethical investment and KiwiSaver provider, recognised for its commitment to people, communities and the environment.
John embedded purpose at every level of the business, from investing in companies and ventures that create positive change, to making Pathfinder New Zealand’s first certified B Corp financial services company and committing a portion of revenue to charitable causes.
Beyond building a successful business, John has inspired wider change through his advocacy, media work and industry leadership. He has become one of New Zealand’s most influential voices on sustainability, responsible investing and the role business can play as a force for good.
A proud North Shore local and Rosmini College alumnus, John’s career has taken him from law and investment banking in London to reshaping New Zealand’s investment landscape. Along the way, he has received numerous accolades, including the Sustainable Business Network’s Sustainability Superstar Award and the Fonterra Sustainability Leadership Award at the 2024 Robert Walters New Zealand Leadership Awards.
Those who know John best speak not only of his business achievements, but also of his generosity, humility and commitment to helping others. Whether supporting charities, championing men’s health, or mentoring future leaders, he continues to make a lasting impact both within and beyond business.
The North Harbour Club is proud to welcome John Berry into the North Harbour Business Hall of Fame as a 2026 inductee. His leadership, vision and unwavering commitment to purpose have helped shape a better future for New Zealand and set an inspiring example for generations to come.
