Takapuna local Ann Tod has been a significant contributor to business, sport and the not-for-profit sector for decades.

Ann joined KPMG in 1980, working principally as an auditor across many industries. She was National Learning Director from 1995 to 1999, joining the global team in New York for three months in 1998 to develop audit training material.

Ann became a partner at KPMG in April 2003 and since 2016 her client responsibilities were largely in the Charitable Trust and not-for–profit sector. She was a member of the KPMG Board for six years from 2011 through to 2017.

Ann is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Ann recognises the importance of coaching and mentoring which has enabled her to build strong and dedicated teams to ensure delivery of quality service.

In 2022 Ann was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for her contribution to Netball with an MNZM for her services to the sport over a 20 year period. She has been the Finance Director of World Netball since 2011, the worldwide governing body responsible for world rankings, maintaining the rules of netball and organising the Netball World Cup and netball at the Commonwealth Games.

Ann has encouraged the growth of netball globally in accordance with the objectives of the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. She is a member of the Netball North Harbour Umpires Association and is an umpire coach. She is an honorary auditor of the Oceania Netball Federation.

Ann’s current not-for-profit board and trustee roles include being the chair of Harbour Hospice – a board she joined in 2017. She has played a big role in Hospice completing the final stages of a significant redevelopment of the facilities in Takapuna to ensure future demand for palliative care will be met.

She is also a trustee on the JR McKenzie TeTuhi Contemporary Arts Trust; the Make-a-Wish New Zealand; and the CanTeen New Zealand Independent Finance Committee.

Ann has also been involved in Rotary New Zealand since 2003, is a member of the Rotary Club of Auckland and the Internal Audit Committee of Rotary District 9920.

If all this isn’t enough Ann (who is married to Alistair) has also found time to be the proud mother of three daughters – Alexandra, Ashlea & Alana.

Ann Tod, a wonderful new 2022 inductee into the North Harbour Business Hall of Fame.
